This, very much so.

In DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), which is basically trying to learn a skill set for dealing with stress and crisis, one short-term coping skill is described as a mental "vacation" (it's one of several and not the only one to use), and it's just what it sounds like: leave the situation, spend some time elsewhere, maybe have a small indulgence (mani or pedi, tasty drink or snack, short massage).

But the text emphasizes that it must be SHORT. You can't live on vacation.
