Re: Fanfic trends that cross all fandoms

I've noticed a huge uptake in fanfics which start "[OC Name] was a US marine who...[fandom with no connection to the US and especially not soldiering]".

I'm kinda sick of people glorifying American soldiers and military tactics. Especially when they have to knock 100 IQ points off regular canon characters and nerf their technological capabilities in order to do it.

On the other hand I also have noticed an upkick, and still hate, fanfics with "[Ridiculous OC Name] was a pregnant teenager who...[fandom]"

I suppose the eventual outcome will be a fanfic with [Ridiculous OC Name] was a heavily pregnant teenage US Marine who slaughtered her way to become Queen of the Care Bears sat upon a throne of skulls...actually I would read the hell out of that one.

That honestly sounds like the very best kind of crack. So imaginative!
