This is a fairy tale and fairy tales are all about blood lines and such. How many focus on "the true king" or some such, being raised by peasants or chickens in the woods but of course blood will tell and the noble nature shines through. Blood = destiny in a fairy tale world.

But then the hero decides to ignore that heroic nature and keep on being an actor or a lowly watchman because the non-noble is so much better at the other job despite lack of noble blood....oh that's just Pratchett then?
