(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)My other paranoia is donating to one such person and inadvertently enabling them. Maybe it's meant to be a one-off, but they come back to rely on the internet again and again for their income realizing that this can actually be done.
Or maybe I'm just not trustful of people. I'm unlikely to donate unless it's a good friend, but I've bought a commission. I don't have much money myself, so...

Same with the petitions - a friend tried to get people on her flist to sign one for a friend because of a horrible injustice that had happened to her, except it reeked of Two Sides to Every Story. I didn't want to question my friend's friend's integrity, but...
