how degrading and hurtful I found it
I've always found that a rather strange argument. Sure, some (mostly professional) porn is, but there are so many different types of porn. Like amateur and home porn: some couple decides to tape their steamy evening and share it with other people, or someone wanks on camera. How is that automatically degrading or hurtful?

Oh please. By those standards the beholder in question could claim that shaking hands is degrading, because it involves sometimes unwanted physical contact. If the people doing it don't find it degrading, it's not really anyone's business to tell them otherwise.

I am acquainted with someone who feels this way. She refers to men offering to shake her hand as being akin to rape.

...Seriously? I'm not keen on physical contact, but that just sounds stupid.

If for no other reason than offering to do something doesn't really scan as a rape analogy.

I know, right?

It's possible she's just having everybody on, but if so, she's really committed to the joke - she eventually dropped it when it became clear nobody was going to agree, or even give it serious consideration, but never disowned the opinion.

(IIRC, her justification for the 'rape' analogy was that she didn't feel like she could refuse, thus she had to 'consent' to having what she considered an equivalent to sexual contact.)

Well, there was a lot of ex/current female pornstars that have commented to being raped/forced to do anal/forced to have sex with guys on their 'no' list/etc. There is that problem in the industry. But not all porn is like that, no.

This. Not liking porn is as justifiable as liking it. Not a reason to judge anyone.

That said, I love (the right, filthy man-on-man-on-man-etc. type) porn myself. Hrrr!

That kind of porn is comparatively rare - I'm always looking for it, and eventually giving up when it's easier to find the least offensive mainstream stuff to get my fix. The truly amateur solo stuff is pretty easy to find, but stuff with more than one person is often superseded with fake amateur and home porn. It's a little frustrating when all you want is some normal people getting off together, not some polished actors pretending (badly) to get off together.
