My reaction to it is like 50% squeeing and 50% complaining, and this is about the same reaction it got out of a lot of fans I know. And I don't know a single one who won't accept people criticizing it. It's the Trekkies who are forgetting some of the appallingly bad ST movies of the past in order to say this one is unquestionably the worst that are being rabid.

Not to mention such masterpieces as "Spock's Brain" and "Threshold".

Spock's Brain = 60s TV episode. Threshold? = don't even know, feel free to revoke my Trekkie credentials (must be from one of the newer ones).

IMO, ST Into Darkness wasn't very good - too derivative, and really a disappointment considering how much I loved the previous film. But it's not the "worst film everrr", just kind of disappointing after all the expectation.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but "Threshold" may have been that Voyager ep where Janeway and Paris turn into, like, giant salamanders or something and have salamander babies.

("Spock's Brain" at least has enough of a cheese factor to make it kind of fun in spots. "Brain and brain! What is brain?!")

I just googled it, and yes, that's the one. Wow! That's .... different. (Never watched Voyager)

Original Trek has some fabulously cheesy lines, which I love to pieces. The "brain and brain" as quoted above, and we always guffawed at "the bringers of pain and delight" from the same episode.

Spock's Brain was wonderful and no one can convince me otherwise.

I liked Spock's Brain for how over the fucking top it was. XD And it's an episode where Kirk SHUNS any and all female seduction in favor of "GIMME BACK SPOCK!!"

I don't ship K/S in the reboot (which i like, just prefer the first film), but damn do I ship it in the TOS stuff.

No kidding. I actually just watched it last night for the first time, and let's just say I had expected it to be a whole lot worse based on all the hate I've seen directed toward it. Was it flawless? Hardly. But I would watch it again, and that's more than I can say for some of the other Trek movies.

And forgot to close my italics tag *facepalm*
