It's the Trekkies who are forgetting some of the appallingly bad ST movies of the past in order to say this one is unquestionably the worst that are being rabid.

No kidding. I actually just watched it last night for the first time, and let's just say I had expected it to be a whole lot worse based on all the hate I've seen directed toward it. Was it flawless? Hardly. But I would watch it again, and that's more than I can say for some of the other Trek movies.
