A minor one

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It saddens me when people talk about how annoying it is when people constantly post pictures of their kids or pets (often in the context of new parents). I love it more than anything else when people post cute pics. I've been known to (playfully) ride people about when they're going to post more baby pictures or kitty cuddle shots.

Hey man, if you like them you like them. The parents probably like to hear that you're interested. I don't enjoy being spammed with kid pictures but everyone is different, and no one has to look at them.

About kids? Doubtful--some people just find babies repulsive. But maybe about the animals, because so many people can't have animals in their apartments. :(

Yeah in addition to the comment I made below I was also thinking about myself when I couldn't have a cat. Seeing other people post about their cats made me get jealous and really sad. I never attacked them for it obviously but yeah, it was a dark time. (I hope it's clear I'm being a little jokey right now). I figure there are some people out there who feel that way about kids too.

No, we're usually just not interested. I'm not too fond of kids, and when I'm friends with someone on Facebook, I'm interested in them, not their kids. I mean, I get posting pics when it's born, or on birthdays and stuff. But I really do not need an update every week on every uneventful thing the kid has learned to do.

oh yeah no I totally get that I thought the OP was talking about like really overly aggressive people who get mad just because someone had a baby and wants to share the new pictures

I really don't like babies and little kids at all but I just scroll

I LOVE happy/cute pictures. I'm sad so many people are so pessimistic that they can't see the beauty in other people being so happy that they have to share it.

I can't be around that kind of negativity. It drives me nuts.

But not everyone finds kid/animal pictures cute. I don't think someone is necessarily pessimistic or negative just because they don't want to look at pictures of someone's kids or pets, they just might be interested in other things.

I'd say that it's monumentally entitled to complain about people posting pictures of their baby or pets to their own Facebook. If you don't like it then you have the option to hide a person's updates. Conversely, the people posting said pictures need to accept that not everybody's interested in their baby or their pets, and so they shouldn't complain if people stop following/start hiding their updates.
