Yep loved this movie too. And I am a Canon purist who would be shot on sight for ever admitting this un-anon.

Especially because it goes WELL out of its way to establish the deerstalker, the calabash pipe, Jam Watson (literally fucking Jam Watson) and all the other non-canon bullshit all us canon purists look down on with a genteel sneer. (Not making fun of you. That is literally what I do.)

And yet I love this movie too. For the horror, for the sets, for the glimpse of Sherlock when he was still a teenager: more petty, more hormonal, more temperamental, not yet a genius but getting there very fast... it delights me.
