That would get me to listen to it. Especially since he was in that phantom radio station episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Oh god no

Just... no.

Anyone that doesn't sound as completely bored as Cecil sounds would get me into listening to the show.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS. I got through the first... four, and just gave up. I couldn't take the boring, utter pretentiousness of the whole thing, as well as the ridiculous "weather reports".

+1

You say boring, I say calm and soothing and great for listening to before bed.

This could refer to everything Gottfried has ever read out loud.

Well...I'd get a kick out of it if he had a guest spot. Maybe as Big Rico.

This is what I'm thinking. I don't think I could take him replacing Cecil though. He's entertaining but his voice strains after a while for me.

Secret 5 - Welcome to Night Vale, Gilbert Gottfried

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-09-15 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is a photograph of the actor, voice actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried super-imposed on the cover image of the podcast "Welcome to Night Vale". Gottfried has light skin and very short dark hair and is wearing a dark suit. The cover image of Night Vale is a purple night sky with a crescent moon as part of a sinister eyes, with a telephone or electricity pole, a water tower and a barn or house with an antenna on its roof.]

I think I'd like this show better and find it more listenable if Gilbert Gottfried were the voice of Cecil.

This made me laugh so hard.

I think it would be amazing if he played one of the other characters, but I would not want him as Cecil. Gottfried has an interesting voice for sure, but it isn't one I want to listen to for extended periods of time.

But different strokes and all that!

it would be more hilarious for about 5 minutes and then it would be intolerable.

Pretty much my reaction, too.

Maybe he could be an intern.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
thank god you're not in charge

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
This made me laugh and was also my reaction entirely.

That would turn me off the show so fast it would give me whiplash. I cannot stand his voice.

Different strokes, I guess.

But what about the Japan thing

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of his voice, but I'm not really willing to just forgive and forget his jokes about the earthquake and tsunami. And I know that offensive humor is part of his whole shtick, but that doesn't give him a pass.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be happy if I never had to listen to his screech again.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-17 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you do that? Just... no.
