pantswarrior: Slideshow of a few different costumes of mine. (cosplay)

Yeah, what everyone else is saying. The only time I start feeling like maybe I better watch myself is in cosplay. Because for example, a year ago I was invited to be part of a large cosplay group that consisted mostly of people I didn't know. The character I was going to be is canonically attracted to another character, and that character's cosplayer was, as I am, quite happy about shipping it despite the wrongness, and she was all "We can take totally sketchy pictures together! Woohoo! Chain me to the wall and stuff!" and I was like "Woooooo this will be the most wrong but awesome photoshoot ever!"

Well, I didn't make it to the photoshoot, but stayed in contact with a lot of the cosplayers involved. So then a few months later, this same cosplayer who had been suggesting taking rather suggestive pictures together was griping about how she couldn't buy spraypaint because in her home state you have to be over the age of 21.

D:

Soooo yeah, now I'm a little more cautious when people suggest taking shippy pics. I don't want to come off like I'm creeping on the young folks. XD

"I don't want to come off like I'm creeping on the young folks." This, so much. D:

I'd rather stay home from cons because of this. I guess it's because I find other older people attending to be creepers. (WTF self?)
pantswarrior: Kotetsu is on a tiger. That is all. (sexay)

That's the funny thing - since I'm frequently the oldest in the group, I just kind of take it upon myself nowadays to sort of keep an eye on things like a parental figure, since half the time, people cosplaying characters who are older than I am are like half my age. While I'm still cosplaying 12 year olds because I'm short, scrawny, and still get carded for the 16+ panels.

And when I meet someone who actually looks around my age, we can compare ages and go "So yeah, it's totally cool if we want to do that sketchy picture that will make fandom go nuts." ;)
