Warnings are not needed, backdrop Oc's characters need not be mentioned - but if the main character is an OC? People want to know. We're here to read fanfiction, about characters we know. Not a story where the canon characters play backdrop to your shitty OC

........and here it is....the comment I was waiting for.

There's not need to be overly bitchy about it. Did you really need to put "your shitty OC" instead of say "an OC" or "a Mary Sue"

Also as I mentioned above some people do enjoy reading fics with OCs focusing on the world rather than the character.

But I agree with warnings. Don't let it be a surprise to someone who might loathe it.

This

Yeah, they just had to say "shitty OC" and speak for all people reading fics.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I don't like OC's in ffic at all. They're all shitty OC's to me, no matter how good the writer is. I don't want to read about OC's, I don't care about OC's and I will be very angry if someone doesn't tag their stupid OC's because I don't want to read them.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like ship fic or smut, it's all shitty half assed to me , even if it's good. I don't want to read about your silly ship and I will get pissed if someone doesn't tag even the slightest bit of erotica because I don't want to read it

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeeeah, so...you're kinda sounding like a child, here.

You aren't interested in something? That's great! But that doesn't make that something "shitty" or "stupid." If you think that it does, then you need to step outside of yourself for five seconds and grow up.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Invariably anyone who dismisses someone else's preferences or styles as shitty, writes shitty stuff themselves. Kind of reflects their shitty opinions.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't speak for all people.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
So? People in general want to know. the majority of fanfic readers want to read about canon characters.
how does it hurt you to write 'OCs' in the tags or the drop list or in the notes or the title or wherever so people who don't want to read about stupid OC's don't have to? you save everyone, including yourself, so much time and frustration

people who don't tag their oc's deserve all the dislike they get

DA

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody's saying don't tag.

They're just saying don't make sweeping statements about what everyone wants to read. What you want to read is not what everyone wants to read.

What part of that is so fucking difficult for you?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Get a grip.

Not all people think OCs are automatically shitty. Nor do all people need an OC tag. Is that so hard for you to comprehend?

/reading comprehension

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
(another anon)
So just because some people don't need an OC tag, the ones who do want an OC tag shouldn't get one? How is that fair?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much this.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Because OCs are automatically "shitty"? No, they aren't. I take a great deal of trouble creating OCs to interact with my canonical characters (who don't exist in a bubble, because they meet people, gosh) and get a lot of kudos for them.

Fanfiction about the characters people know in my fandom *includes* OCs, because they don't just lie around their flat smoking (canon)/screwing(fanon) all day.

Sigh.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I can tell you right now your OCs are shitty. Because they are OCs and OCs are shitty therefore your OCs are shitty because they are OCs. Get the drift. The only person who cares about your OCs are you.

DA

(Anonymous) 2013-09-16 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they are OCs and OCs are shitty therefore your OCs are shitty because they are OCs

This is the dumbest fucking sentence (and the most idiotically redundant one) I've ever seen.

The only person who cares about your special snowflake preferences is you get a fucking grip.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2013-09-17 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm kinda starting to think that this person is actually an OC writer who is pretending to be an asshole who bashes OCs so that people will sympathize with OC writers. It's all just too stupid.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2013-09-17 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No

Trust me, people ARE genuinely this assholeish about them.

I don't think it's impossible that someone is serious here. Stupidly worded certainly. But yeah.
