10. I totally relate, but I only started doing it recently because.

Oh, because when I went to pick up my pre-order of Kingdom Hearts II last year, one of the clerks was like: "Oh, I could have guessed. Your a girl."

The OTHER clerk stood up for me, but I was just like: "Uh, wtf man?"

It was an unsettling feeling since I'm used to shopping at video game and comic stores where the clerks know me and, like, treat me like a "normal" (READ: MALE) customer. Your experience is fairly universal, unfortunately.

Thank you for making this secret.

Also, apparently (according to my roomate), clerks hit on me incessantly once they realize I know games well. I'm too la-di-dah and into the discussion to notice most of the time, but she claims it's pretty obvious.

Which is ANOTHER barrel of WTF because I'm not particularly hot. SO, UH, CAN WE HAVE SOME NICE MEDIUM HERE WHERE GIRLS CAN WALK INTO A GAME STORE WITHOUT HAVING TO EITHER PROVE HOW HARDCORE THEY ARE, OR DEAL WITH LONELY COLLEGE-AGED GUYS WHO'S LAST GF DUMPED THEM OVER HALO? :PPPP

Yeah, I get that a lot, too. I mean, you (general you!) can show up looking like a homeless meth-addict that hasn't bathed in a week and they'd still try to start something with you. It's really creepy.

lol typo

"You're a girl."

Don't write essays and lj at the same time!

Ugh, what an awful experience. :/ I've never actually gotten anything like that in real life, so I'm lucky, but... I guess for me it's like a pre-emptive attack.

No problem. It was something I really had to say.

Actually, I lied. I had one of those experiences before: some guy set up a gaming cafe in my neighbourhood a few years ago (why in the suburbs? o__O). A friend and I went in to look around, and were all: "Ehhh..." because most of the stuff was lame FPS and common-denominator X-Box fare. And then the owner said:

"Yeah, there probably won't be anything you girls will find interesting in here. I should be getting a DDR machine soon, so come back in a few weeks."

I was like: "BITCH, FIRE UP THE TEKKEN AND I WILL MARSHALL LAW YOU INTO THE FUCKING GROUND." except that I was more like: "Uh, wow that was sexist." and left.

But then the guy got zinged for tax fraud or something and fled the province. I lol'ed forever.

XDDD That is highly amusing...
