I find the boy's club of gaming very disorientating mostly because female gamers are such a "no DUUUUH" to me. All of my female friends play video games. Most of the "hardcore" gamers I know are female. I've known more girls with boyfriends who don't share their gaming hobbies than guys who have had that problem.

So when I meet these guys who are all like: "OMG GAMING GIRL. ANOMALLY DROOL WOW DFHKSLHFSD" I'm just like... wtf, guys. Nearly 50% of gamers are girls. WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?

See- I never thought we were unusual, but on of my friend's bf's did proclaim: "I HAVE FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL OF GIRL GAMERS." upon being exposed to our shared nerdy hobbies. :P I-I just don't understand.

Guys need to get into fandom more.

But I'm also the only girl in the anime club who likes shounen and mecha, which makes me :( MY FRIENDS ARE ALL ON THE COMPUTER

I was under the impression that girls LOVED shounen and mecha. It's harder to slash shoujo!

Most of my friends online love shounen for that very reason! I don't know, maybe it's a sign that I really do need to find a new club.

I definitely know what you mean, most of my friends are girls and a good amount of them game. It's always been a thing among friends with me, so when I step out of that and into the "real world" of gaming (happens very rarely these days), at competitions or conventions and the like, the ratio of guys to ladies becomes confusing to me.

I think it's the old notion of, HEY SHE'S A GIRL AND SHE'S A GEEK WE ARE MEANT TO BE. I -- it gets extremely awkward for me when guys act like that, because there's no easy way for me to express that I'm just not very into dudes, sorry. >___>

And it's strange when they act like we're an oddity. Maybe we don't have as high numbers, but I know plenty of women who can kick huge amounts of ass with all sorts of games. It's not like games are hard. I hate the dick-waving contests, when pretty much it's just repetitive learning and honing your hand-eye coordination with enough practice. Anyone can do that, people, lulz.
