Like vethica, mine also came from Neopets. When I was thirteen, a friend sent me one as a start-up (do they even still do that?), a blue Shoyru. Now, I know they're flying dragons, but they also looked kind of aquatic, because... blue, I guess. I decided to name mine after Princess Ruto, since I was also obsessively playing Ocarina of Time at the time.

'Ruto', of course, was taken, so I started trying stacks of variations and eventually hit on Ryttu. At roughly the same time, I wanted to get a new email address, since my Hotmail one was just... my full name, and yeah, not great for security, that. Tried entering 'ryttu', it was taken, decided to add numbers to it, it was the year 2000 so Y2K was on my mind, but 2k was now ~in the past~, and I decided on 3k instead.

So yeah. It's basically a garbled version of ruto3000.
