As everyone else has said, Oregon Trail. The first one is pretty basic and I played Oregon Trail II when I was in third grade.

I also remember really enjoying Word Muncher and Math Muncher but this is going back 15-20 years ago (OMG how the computers have changed!)

When I got older, my mom used to buy the JumpStart games for each grade level, but I'd actually get bored with the younger levels, and played the 4th grade game from second grade on. The 4th grade one was my favorite and it had some story and you traveled around this map. I wish I could remember more but I remember there were spells and monsters.

Yeah, Oregon Trail is good. I’ve played it myself. I think it's best for older grades though.

Muncher games. I think I may have played those too.

Ooo, thanks for the link. That looks promising. Thank you for all your help.

An dating myself, but at that age, we were also happy just playing games with shapes and honestly? PAINT! But kids today probably want something more exciting.

Also second grade was Mario Teaches Typing "it's a me, Mario!"

Good luck!
