I wonder if people display as much glee telling fans of the het pairing it will never happen in canon as the people telling fans of the slash pairing do.

Probably not. I think het ships tend to be seen as much more legitimate, just because they're het, so people are rarely as dismissive of het as they are of slash. From my experience. That experience may vary.

nah, see, the enemy ship is just that. The enemy ship. And it's stupid and everybody there is a retard and/or sociopath and IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

There's glee in that as soon as you have any reason/hook. It doesn't have to be the gay angle.

Oh God, the wank from certain Sirius/Remus shippers when Tonks/ Remus became canon... (Even though, as Sirius was dead by that stage, it was still totally possible to ship both of them!)

I wonder why anyone cares about it "happening in canon". As if it somehow validates you. Can't you ship unless the showrunners do? Pretty poor shipping if you ask me.
