Because women are already subs, obviously.

Wait, domme is for women? I thought it was just a fancy way to say dom.

...

Well.

Yep! Domme is for females, dom for males. But I've seen people use dom for females as well. I can't recall ever seeing domme for males.

Sorry for the disappointment :/

Damn it. And I, in general, dislike gendering words that don't inherently already have a gender so this turned a word I thought was kinda interesting into something that makes me kinda irritated.

Damn.

Oh well.

:( I can see how that would be irritating. Here's a kitten being silly to hopefully cheer you up.

Glad it helped :)

I said this below, but I always felt it was a power or control thing. Doms get to be Doms, Dommes, Dominatrixes, Dominants, whatever they choose to be while subs are... subs, always in lowercase. It's about the power balance.

I guess I can get that.

There are plenty of women who call themselves Dominants anyway, so it isn't as though the gender is enforced.

Oh, I get that and I'm not against people using domme if that's what they want. I would respect them and refer to them like that. I just have a stupid pet peeve. I feel the same way about actor/actress and waiter/waitress. I realize my little weirdness stuff shouldn't get in the way of what people want to be called.
