When I went through my "No het thanks!" period, it wasn't disgust. It was merely that I found it boring and not to my interests at the time. Even at the height of that period, I found the type of fangirl who acted disgusted by het to be a bit strange, because even at my slashiest, I still knew that I was a straight woman.

I do wonder if yaoi/slash fangirls who act all "Eww! Het!" have some serious problems going on, or if they are just being ridiculously hyperbolic about their reading preferences.

Also, having read through a good section of comments here, I also like slash for issues of equal relationships without het stereotypes, seeing male characters' emotions analyzed, and for the obvious reason (or it should be) that I like the characters, like their interactions or the potential interaction, and want to see that taken in a romance direction.
