Another reason for your samples favs lists to look the way they do...

My fanfic faves are about 98% m/m slashfic. This isn't because I read only slash, but because my FANFIC preferences are primarily slash. If I want a good m/f story, I tend to pick up a regency romance novel. I like my girl/boy porn to be full of flowery language and historical drama.

So if you were to look at my fanfic favs list, you'd conclude I read exclusively boyporn, and be very, very wrong.

I think that's the biggest fallacy I'm seeing here, is making sweeping generalizations about people, not just from their reading material, but from your assumptions that their fanfic reading material is all they read.
