I've never played Animal Crossing so... what's wrong with spawning three days in a row in the same town?

It's a pain in the butt, especially if you don't know a lot of other people who play the game. You have to take her to someone else's town to get rid of her.

AYRT

That does sound annoying. I'd hate to have to continuously do that.
pantswarrior: DeForest Kelley again fights off giant rabbits. Kind of. (horror)

I'm on a Facebook group for regional Streetpass/3DS stuff, and someone posted there once and was like "Katie needs to leave my town today! Can anyone take her?" And no one else had replied by the end of the day, so I replied back at like 10pm saying I could take her, so she dropped Katie off... and I knew that meant Katie would want to be taken somewhere else in a couple days, so waited for it. For like four days, nothing. Finally she shows up and wants to go somewhere, and I made arrangements during the afternoon to drop her off at a friend's in the evening...

Just after I do, same person I got her from posts in the FB group going "I have Katie in my town - can anyone take her?" I was like NOOOOO I AM AFK AND NOT READING THIS GROUP TODAY.

lol me and my friend keep sending her forth and back between our towns and I feel a bit sad she keeps having to visit the same two towns.

Though once she said she came from my friends town, so I send her back. Then the next day she spawned randomly, not saying she came from my friend's town, and I tried to send her over there again and she lost her trainticket and didn't go. That was kind of annoying lol.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who initially thought the OP was talking about stranding a fandom friend who'd come to visit. It was only when I saw the "spawning" part that I realized OP was talking about a character... *is relieved*

No, I thought the same.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd never strand a fandom friend in my city. That'd be awful!

First off, I'd need a fandom friend... such a loner

Tip for future reference: In Animal Crossing, PCs are always humans, and NPCs are always animals.

Secret 1 - Animal Crossing New Leaf

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-09-22 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is Katie from the videogame "Animal Crossing: New Leaf". She is a cartoonish yellow cat.]

I once stranded her in my town for two days out of spite because she spawned THREE DAYS IN A ROW in my town. I also laugh when she gets sad because I tell her no. I'M A MONSTER.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
But she gives you rare items you wouldn't be able to obtain anywhere else, like the globe and digital-photo frame and her picture.

To be honest, I envy you. I can't get my DS on our wireless no matter what I do, so I can't drop Katie off even if I wanted to.

she looks adorable I'd like her in my kawaii town

D'awww, a cat in a hat.

(That's all I've got...)

Does she interrupt you constantly, or something? (Never played AC.)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, I've been playing AC:NL for months now and I have no idea who this character is. Or what 'spawning' is, I've never had a random character spawn in my town, except if they're moving to live there.

Help?
vethica: (Default)

[personal profile] vethica 2013-09-22 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
She's Katie, and she's a special character who'll occasionally show up in your town and ask for you to bring her to someone else's.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet you have and you just didn't realise that's what they were. You must've met Gulliver, Saharah and Joan, at least! I could understand not meeting Gracie yet, but you've surely met the others.

Also, she only appears after you've either invited visitors into your town, or visited someone else's. Otherwise, you won't meet her.
pantswarrior: Basch says ":(" (:()

I actually think this is far more sensible than the way I am with this game. I'm way too nice to everyone, even when it's a horrible inconvenience. You want me to go to another town and get signatures for your petition against scary clowns by the end of the day, and it's 10:45 pm and I'm feeling really nauseated and was about to turn the game off? OKAY LET ME GET ON FACEBOOK AND SEE IF I CAN GET ONE OF MY FRIENDS TO OPEN THEIR GATES RIGHT AWAY.

Anytime I say no to any of them, no matter how insane the request (why yes Becky, of course I will catch you an arowana despite the fact they aren't even out for another five hours and are incredibly rare and you will probably give me a ranch armchair for it when I could instead sell it for like 10,000 bells), I just wind up feeling like a terrible person. :/

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I've learned to tell them no if it's not something I can easily do. I feel 10x better telling them no from the start than saying yes and never finding the damn thing.

How I feel depends on the dialog they give me. Although some of them are funny. "I'll forget about [x]... if I can." Makes it sound like it's the end of the world or something.

I was seriously afraid to turn anyone down for anything for a long time. Then ... I think it was Fuchsia who I ran into on my way to the museum, who wanted to trade my very first dorado or some such for a tie-dye tee. And uhm. NO.

And she was like "No? Oh well, no biggie. Maybe we can trade some other time."

I had played WW before, and everyone always made a big deal out of it and sulked if you turned them down in that game... but most people in NL are surprisingly chill about it.

...Still feel bad when I do it though. :P So seriously, you are the SANE one here.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't like it so I sold my game, but how do you strand a character? What is stranding?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You're supposed to take Katie to another town when she appears in your town. I didn't even talk to her for 2 days to take her anywhere. Hence, I stranded her in my town.

I dislike SuperWhoLock cause what I have seen is just cracky manips/drabbles.

For me the point of a crossover is try to weld to mythologies together, but in tumblr at least, it's all about jokey stuff "har har we so funny" And I'm like, no.

And trying to mix 3 so different things together just seems so futile, it doesn't make sense.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, but she looks really cute!!

I'll probably never see her in my town since I've only been to one other person's town once.
