If you are no good with Supernatural and Buffy than this series isn't for you. Sleepy Hollow feels like it could easily slip into the Supernatural universe with little change. (It especially feels like a nod to the 80's supernatural horror movie, Warlock. Ichabod is practically Redferne but better dressed.)

You can try it but, be fore warned, it's exactly the way you are expecting it to be.

Then try Sleepy Hollow. Tom Mison is no Richard E. Grant but he's close. Seriously, the dynamic feels the same.

I literally just started watching this movie because I saw it mentioned here. And, wow, Julian Sands was pretty in this movie. Also evil. Pretty and evil.

I hate Supernatural and don't care much for Buffy but I adore Sleepy Hollow so far. Also I am extremely squeamish about beheadings and not at all good with horror but I am not bothered in the least by anything in the pilot.
I'm just saying, there are no hard and fast rules about whether you'll like it. Try it. You might like it, you might not, and if you don't, no harm done.
