I kind of want to watch this because Ichabod looks like a cuter version of Christian Bale, but I'm no good with supernatural horror in tv series (Supernatural, Buffy etc) and I'm not interested in American History. Just how scary is it?

If you are no good with Supernatural and Buffy than this series isn't for you. Sleepy Hollow feels like it could easily slip into the Supernatural universe with little change. (It especially feels like a nod to the 80's supernatural horror movie, Warlock. Ichabod is practically Redferne but better dressed.)

You can try it but, be fore warned, it's exactly the way you are expecting it to be.

Then try Sleepy Hollow. Tom Mison is no Richard E. Grant but he's close. Seriously, the dynamic feels the same.

I literally just started watching this movie because I saw it mentioned here. And, wow, Julian Sands was pretty in this movie. Also evil. Pretty and evil.

I hate Supernatural and don't care much for Buffy but I adore Sleepy Hollow so far. Also I am extremely squeamish about beheadings and not at all good with horror but I am not bothered in the least by anything in the pilot.
I'm just saying, there are no hard and fast rules about whether you'll like it. Try it. You might like it, you might not, and if you don't, no harm done.

People get their heads chopped off on camera. There is blood. There are times when things happen suddenly and shockingly, and others where the tension and sense of foreboding is drawn out.

It's nowhere near as gory as it could be, though. I'm pretty squeamish about horror and I still enjoyed it, but I can't speak for everyone. I'd say it's no worse in these respects than the Tim Burton Sleepy Hollow movie from a while back.

I don't think it's that scary? Well, it also is really silly about American history, so I wouldn't worry about that, either. If this scene scares you, then yeah, it might be too scary for you.

It's not scary at all. The pilot was fun, the main characters are awesome together, and the show over all is fairly silly. I liked it.

Speak for yourself - the last scene [at least, the mirror bit] is one that scared the bejeezus out of me [and really, strongly, reminded me of one of the scariest short stories I've ever read.

Hmmm, I think you probably wouldn't like it then. To me it's a mix of Elementary, Supernatural, and National Treasure with possibly a tiny bit of the movie version of Dark Shadows thrown in (I haven't seen it, but the commercials remind me a lot of it)? I love it so far but from what you've said it doesn't sound like your kind of thing.
