a month isn't a long time. Unless I know you're having hard times (suicidal, bad family etc) I am not going to send you flailing concerned msgs because you haven't been online in a month. Like most people, I'm going to come to the sensible conclusion you're busy or having a break or whatever. If you assume that respecting your choice to fade out for a month means I don't care, you're the one giving a 'friendship' a cheap meaning over something so trivial as whether or not they send you a msg.

Now if it was a few months, I would send a concerned msg, but a tiny month? i have RL friends who drop out of my life for longer periods. Unless I know there's something actually going on in your life, I'm not sending frantic "OMG ARE YOU OK msgs". I'm going to assume you're a capable adult not going online as much. Hell, I didn't reply to my BFF for 3 weeks via text because I got busy and forgot. online < RL


tldr People shouldn't have to come running with PM's everytime an online friend disappears for a month and they shouldn't have to have discussions revolving around your absence. Unless you've somehow given an indicator that disappearance = something bad people are just going to figure you're busy
