As someone who's probably done this to her fandom friends before....

I don't think automatically assuming that they don't care about you just because they didn't inquire is quite fair.

Personally, one of my fandom friends disappeared about a year ago for personal reasons, and I still miss them now. I know they're still alive since they do small things like change their blog layout from time to time, but as much as I want to talk to them again, I'd still feel kind of obnoxious if I started messaging them to ask where they were, so I just stay quiet and hope that they'll come back soon.
