(Anonymous) 2013-09-23 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)I went to watch it with a friend, because she's a fan of the books.
I had never read the books, so I had no damn clue what was going on. The plot was an incoherent mess, I couldn't care less about the characters.
It felt like watching a bad fanfiction. I was thinking "Oh, there's Draco. There's Harry. There's Ginny. There's Voldemort."
When the bad guy turned the ring upside down to reveal it was actually an 'M', I had to use all my willpower not to laugh out loud.
But I'll probably go see the midnight screening of the sequel, because what are friends for?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-23 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)I was basically in the same situation as you were. A friend who read the books took me to watch it with her. I knew it was a mess, but oh well, friendship.
We were 10 people in one room, and we snarked at the movie and had so much fun.
I kept thinking, "This is from Buffy. Hey, this is from the second episode of Buffy! (Sewer escape scene.) Hi there, stuffy older librarian dude in a big library!"

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 12:08 am (UTC)(link)They have "delayed production" of the movie. AKA we are going to act like this mess never happened and hope it disappears.

Don't get me wrong, it certainly wasn't a good movie (and I found myself cringing at the cheesy, ridiculous lines) but the characters were less, much less annoying that in the book.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 12:40 am (UTC)(link)So much wrong with this movie, but I've already accepted the fact that I'm going to see the sequel when it comes out. *shrugs*

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 02:55 am (UTC)(link)That's why they're called GUILTY pleasures...
I'm pretty sure that as long as I never read it again, it will remain a fond memory.
