If you read fic on AO3 and search Danny/Stiles, Sterek can be rather overwhelming. I know that more Stanny fic has been created, so it is easier to find. Don't do a search by kudos. Do a regular search for the pairing. Sterek in the Stanny tag is more prominent if you search by kudos or reviews.

..Or they could do what everyone else does and search for Danny/Stiles and then put
-"Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski"
in the "Search within results box" which excludes all Sterek (that isn't written by assholes who don't tag it) completely.

Yup. I just tried it out, and oh, the glorious lack of Sterek.

Y'all are lifesavers. *takes note*

AO3 savior y'all. I am roughly 95% less annoyed when browsing now I don't have to even see a whiff of Sterek or Loki/OFC. Of course if you're looking at the Scot McCall tag half the page is now hidden and most of the rest of it isn't even Scott-centric, but eh, what can you do?

Woah, woah, woah. No more Loki/OFC? DETAILS ANON! What is this AO3 Savior?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Behold in wonder: AO3 Savior for Greasmonkey (https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/153120)! Install the script, (in firefox, idk what for other browsers) go to Tools>Add ons> AO3 savior>Options, click on the 'edit this script' button at the bottom, and copy the formula therein for author and or tags. It'll show up green if it's done right. I recommend using 'Loki/OFC', 'Original Female Character/Loki', 'Loki/Original Female Character(s)' and any and all permutations of that you can think of, because it has to be exact, and the self-insert authors always seem to find some new way of tagging it.

You'll love it. Provided the fic is tagged correctly, you'll never have to see that author you can't stand, that pairing you hate or that trope that gives you the creeps ever again!

I love that thing. My blocked tag list is full about a thousand different weird versions of "m-preg" and "Loki/OFC" and it took a lot of time to get it that way but it was worth it. I also blocked Darcy, now the Avengers and Thor fandom is strangely, gloriously empty.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt
lol same, except I love me some mpreg, and grew to really like the intersex Loki trope, so I still see most of any given page, thankfully. Blocking That One Author who seems to post her mediocre fic every other frigging day helped clear the clutter somewhat.

I hate it when there's something that you can't stand/are completely uninterested in the vast majority of, but you can't quite bring yourself to killfile the term because you remember reading that awesome fic including it that one time, and you wouldn't want to miss something like that. Like I have zero interest in reading Tony/Steve, but sometimes they're a sidepairing, or once in a blue moon someone incorporates Sigyn fantastically, without it screaming self-insert.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, intersex Loki is another blocked thing for me - but that's the great thing about it - everyone can block what they hate and leave what they love!
I'm also blocking an author in a different fandom - one who kept writing m-preg without putting up warnings. That really sucked because she wrote a rarepair relevant to my interests.

I'm often tempted to sneak a peek under the "Click here to show work" thing - but most often I regret it afterwards XD

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You poor soul, you must see barely anything, lol! I used to hate that trope, then I read With Open Hand and it was like a switch flipped in my head. And it's so popular now - I don't envy you!

Ugh, it sucks when people don't tag properly. And clicking a link of your fave rarepair only to find it's unreadable for you is just so disappointing.

I've stopped giving in to my curiosity. Odds are it's just a Sue fic, but knowing my luck it'd be the one author in twelve years of fandom who exacerbated my anxiety disorder. The script was worth it just for that.

So yeah, everyone get AO3 Savior! You won't know how you got by without it!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, you glorious creature, I owe you my life.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
i usually forget you can do that.

i wish they just had a separate box for "exclude"

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I've suggested that before.
