Pagan reactions vs reactions of people in mainstream religions

Some religions seem to view new followers getting involved as a good thing, weird right?

Though most religions don't take very kindly to the modification of traditions or dogma. Got a bunch of people in a lot of trouble back in the day, I hear.

Don't get me wrong,I think this is all balls to the wall hilarious, but it seems to be just how religions work.

Given that very few pagan adherents were raised in the religion, what do you expect new followers to look like?

Are you putting "identity" in quotes because you know it doesn't mean as little as you're purporting that it means?

You know very little about OP and their level of contact with the religion at the time at which they felt called to it - only that they currently identify as atheist. But whatevs, you can keep right on belittling them if that's what it takes to make yourself feel big.

Gosh, I guess all that stuff they said about earth-centricism and being spiritually moved was just filler.

LOL u

Agnostic polytheist is not an identifier. It's a position I have with regard to theism.

'Gods are interesting' is not why I hold that position. The reason I hold that position is that while I know the gods are there, I don't know if their presence as I've experienced it equates to existence. I cannot make an absolute claim about that, and don't want to pretend to. 'Gods are interesting' is the reason why I engage with the topic in the first place.

The only identifier I ever use much is 'pagan'.

Oh no! A pagan who, like the more mature theologians for mainstream religions, admit the reasonableness of doubt! Whatever is the world coming to?

It's amusing to me how many neopagans get their boxers in a twist over ideas originally expressed by people in polytheistic cultures of antiquity.

You don't get to choose what wicca is, and who is or isn't. OP doesn't have to follow "traditional" 1950s new age Gardner to be a wiccan.
