Hah. I used to see really mature people in fandom all around me, until I got older and realized they weren't as mature as I'd thought.

Eh, I mean mature in relation to the common stereotype of shrieking, yaoi-obsessed weeaboos associated with that age group in fandom, not that I'm so deeply impressed that I've become some sort of white knight/champion of youth (which I'm afraid I'm coming off like now).

What I was trying to get across, anyway, was that it just seems like a lot of vitriol for a pretty harmless, non-confrontational secret.

Slightly OT but when I was 15 I had a bunch of online friends ranging from 26-50s and dear god the relationship drama. That was the least mature group of people I've ever associated with.

I'm almost 30 and now a spate of relationship drama is usually how we ferret out the people too young to be in our comms (per TOS).

Oh, huh. I don't think this was that. We mostly got together on the old MSN chatrooms, and they knew how old I was. They pressured me for pics, too. It was a fucked up time.
