I can't bring myself to think Soundwave cares for anyone other than his cassettes. Not in a shippy way just...in general.

(slightly OT, re:Starscream love, if I may: I love Starscream because under most writers he's pretty darn self-aware of just what exactly he is. He knows all of his shortcomings. Half the time he even knows he's not worthy of all that he wishes he had. But he still pursues it. And that's kind of funny to me.

He's as obnoxious as hell, he's a coward, and he's truly evil much of the time. But his self-awareness make me laugh. That's why I like him.)

I agree with you so much about Starscream. He's so obnoxiously awful and whiny but that's why I love him so much as a character.

Because while homestuck came up with the term Kismesis, the concept was healthy decades before.

My first thought when I saw this secret was "it's only a matter of time before a Homestuck shows up to mention Kismesissitude". Thanks for proving me right, noodly!

Transformers Prime Starscream has a voice that's a lot easier on the ears and he's a lot less whiny as well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxgS-wqfPHU

And he was a part of the slashiest moment I've ever seen in Transformers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8EAL3YZPI8

Speak for yourself.
The slashiest TF moment was when Soundwave and Galvatron flew away holding hands. Nothing can rival that, not even KO's fetishes.

CHRIS LATTA >>>>>>> STEVE BLUM

+1
The Steve Blum worship tends to annoy me. Sure, guy has a nice voice but he's also EVERYWHERE with the same fucking voice.

Chris Latta's way of gong from quiet straight to screech was something special.

Speaking as someone who's been shipping SS/KO since season one, "Thirst" was a half hour of pure bliss.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I shall assume you mean the G1 cartoon. Because the IDW comic has a bot outright saying "I love you" to his life partner.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh no, Transformers Prime is different universe than G1

Starscream is hilarious...hilariously awful!

BUT IF YOU CAN'T SEE THAT THIS IS EXACTLY WHY PEOPLE ADORE HIM, I CAN'T REALLY HELP YOU.

I mean, if it's about who is "better," why like any of the Decepticons at all. They are all bad guys!

Seriously. Jeez. SOUNDWAVE INFERIOR, STARSCREAM SUPERIOR. THE END!!!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
The only person I've ever shipped with Megatron was Orion Pax. Soundwave is under-appreciated in general though.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know about shipping, but I always found the scene that gif was taken from oddly touching. Soundwave and Shockwave definitely seemed like the only really loyal Decepticons out of the lot.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
You post a secret about how whiny G1 Starscream is and yet it shows G1 Megatron lying on the floor like a piece of shit after Starscream dealt with him.
G1 Megatron is a typical dumb cartoon villain and looks hilarious to boot. I think he and G1 Starscream deserve each other. In the cartoon at least.

Soundwave is too good for Megatron. That's a fact.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Starscream/Megatron is OTP because they fight like an old couple (with more death and destruction, but you get what I mean).

Megatron/Soundwave is boring in comparison. Soundwave is just Megatron's servant in many aspects but with Starscream you can have this love/hate relationship and all the fun stuff.
That's why so many people ship the two assholes together rather than the asshole and his butler.

I like Starscream because he's a sassy, flamboyant, passionate character who reacts in interesting ways to his extremely difficult life. He's fascinating and troubled.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
i've always wondered if so many people like starscream for his name. i could imagine it's appealing to some people so they are biased to the character.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking as a longtime Starscream fan ... I could actually see that about myself, a little? 'Starscream' is a really evocative name, a vast alien fear and rage. I could well believe there's a bit of my brain that heard it and went 'whoever this character is, you will probably like them'.

It probably wouldn't have held if his various incarnations hadn't also been creepy and cool and occasionally tragically honourable, but I can see that it might have skewed the field a little when I was first getting into Transformers.
