Maybe I'm missing the point here, but it sounds like you did all the right things in this situation. You recognized your dislike of him was irrational, you did not allow it to color your interactions with him, you did not attempt to cause him any harm, you didn't try to undermine his relationships with others.

So, basically, you handled yourself like a mature, responsible adult. It's frustrating to have a reaction to someone that isn't fair or justifiable. But despite what you felt towards him, you acted towards him in a civil, courteous manner. And eventually you let go of your emotional response, even if it was after he left. I don't think you should feel too guilty. The situation is over now, and you weren't a jerk about it, so...time to take a breath and move on, I think.
