Honestly, I'm so mad I have no words; I can't imagine what you must be going through. I have never understood sticking kids in some "last resort" school where they are expected to still eek out passing grades when no-one gives a flying fuck. I had a couple friends who placed in one of those -- one somehow got her shit together, and the other... well I didn't hear about her once they graduated.

UGH! This is the nonsense that makes our school system such a horrible place for anyone who isn't all about self-motivation or happen to land in the right classes.

Can you use the opportunity with the sub to do some lessons? Depending how easily distractable she is, let her know what you want to do and get in her involved in giving you feedback regarding your strategies? Something?
