Except that guy's not obese just overweight, there is a difference

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
What, the guy in the background? I'd say he was obese. Not morbidly obese, but he's a bit beyond overweight.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not really though? His gut is pretty big, but it looks like nothing more than a great big beer gut. Not obesity.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, maybe. I'm only going on my experience - overweight right now, but based on the extra poundage that gut would entail, I'd be obese (blah, blah: height and weight and gender differentials, etc.).

Either way, obese or overweight: OP, I'm glad it inspired you to start working out. :)

'Obese', at least per the medical/BMI-based definition, doesn't necessarily look all that big. I've seen people classed as obese who have far less of a gut than that guy.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I'm technically obese and I wear a size 12. You don't have to look that big.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
WHich was never intended to be used a measure of "appropriate" weight for anyone.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
ew no. that fat sack of dog shit is morbidly obese.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 01:00 am (UTC)(link)

lol at all the medical professionals here w/their internet diagnoses of BMI which isn't even an accurate thing, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Keep telling yourself that fattie

Wow, I'm gutted and destroyed by your mad trolling skillz.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
BMI is inaccurate when it comes to muscular people because muscle weighs more than fat. In this case however, I doubt that beer gut is actually 7862 abs stacked on top of each other, so it's probably fairly accurate if his BMI considers him obese.

Sure. My point, though, was that you need the proper equipment and information just to determine whether that individual is overweight, obese, or morbidly obese. And further, only that individual's doctor can have a hope of accurately determining what health issues that person does and doesn't have. But it's more fun to just call fatty than listen to rationale.

So what? The video makes OP feel better about themselves and get more active; what does it matter where the person in the video falls on the notoriously-inaccurate BMI range?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever the guy in the video is still a gross pile of flab
