Nah, it's fine :) Tolkien, uh, really loves details. Details in EVERYTHING. Details on every little bitty thing that happened. He interrupted a battle to tell us about the attacker's personal history, and... yeah, not that great with flow.

I mean, I personally love the fuck out of detail, and also love the fuck out of his writing. But believe me, there is no shame in not being able to get through that dense, DENSE prose. (And I say this as someone who's considered LOTR to be their favourite book since age eleven!)
