Aww, poor widdle baby Walt.

I hope that bastard dies in the finale for what he's done to everyone in his life.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
this secret has nothing to do with walt. it's about hank.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
this secret has everything to do with walt, are you nuts

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
no, it's about hank and skylar

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's about how nothing is Walt's fault

I seriously need to watch this show. I love a good bastard character.

I feel like "bastard" implies a certain self-knowledge that is entirely lacking from Walt (indeed, the lack of self knowledgeis pretty much his central character trait)

That was one of the only times I disliked Skyler.

Once Hank figured out Walt was Heisenburg, he was dead no matter what happened. I don't think Walt would've turned himself in. He would've changed his mind eventually.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... prior I couldn't really blame Skyler given the power Walt exerted over her but at this point he was all but defeated and going "I should turn myself in for the sake of my family" but she had to convince him not to out of greed. At this point they're both culpable for everything that happened afterwards.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it was greed; I think it was her being rational about the situation. Walt wasn't going to live that long. And once he turned himself in the feds would take everything they had, the media would drag the family name through the mud and hound the hell out of them, and in the end she'd be left with nothing, two kids to support (if she even got to keep custody), a freaked out son who's had his entire view of his dad destroyed, and the stigma of having been the family of 'Heisenberg' which would greatly affect their employment chances, rental prospects, and personal lives for a very long time. Saul was dead on about why Skyler wouldn't say anything in the beginning and I think that's why she still didn't want to: blowback.

I think, like Walt, she did what she did for the sake of her family. And really, I think Hank should have let it go for the same reason. Given all the fallout that would, and did, land on Skyler and the kids, it just wasn't worth it to go after a guy who'd very likely be dead before he even came up for trial. So to me, it was Hank being all Ahab about the situation that led to his own downfall. If Walt wasn't dying and would have spent a few decades in prison to pay for his crimes, you could make a case that turning himself in/Hank going after him made sense. Otherwise, the only outcome was Skyler and the kids suffering all the consequences for the actions of a dead man.

And really, I think there's a conversation to be had nationally about the vindictive nature of drug laws that encourages the 'keep quiet and go along or lose everything even if you didn't do anything' situation on the show. If it was just a matter of Walt going to jail and the feds just taking his meth money and leaving her alone, then I think she would very likely have spoken up in the beginning back when she first found out before she got embroiled in maintaining the lie. Of course then the show would have been very short.

First, I highly doubt Walt would have actually turned himself in. Look at the latest episode, after Jr blasted him, Walt ACTED like he'd turn himself in but lo and behold, he found another convenient reason not to. If Skyler had point blank told Walt, "Turn yourself in. You need to do this." Walt STILL wouldn't have done it.

Furthermore, Hank only died because the fuckwad that Walt is had already ordered a hit on the guy he'd claimed to love like a son. And even when Walt KNEW they were coming, that asshole waited until the last second to even start to warn them. Hank's dying was maybe .07% Skyler and 99.03% Walt.

It was pretty stupid of her, true, but she didn't have to twist his arm very hard.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-27 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I blame Jesse actually. I've had a bit of schadenfreude watching him suffer these last two episodes.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
As if. That wasn't even Jesse's plan.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've seen references to Breaking Bad on Twitter - and just thought, "that sounds horribly ungrammatical" - is it something on telly?

Why isn't it called 'Breaking Badly'?

are you a parody of a british person

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Crumbs, no - I'm just a British person. I just haven't heard of this fandom, but found the name jolly ungrammatical.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's Marie's fault; she goaded Hank on in the car after he stopped her from kidnapping Skyler's baby.

I think Hank would still be alive if Walt hadn't hired the NeoNazis to kill Jesse.

I think Hank would still be alive if Walt didn't decide to become a drug lord.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-28 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Thaaaaaank you. Jesus, these fucking Walt fans. They will find every excuse for that wad of jerkass.

Sure he would. He'd also still be alive if Walt hadn't called the Nazis. A lot of things could have gone differently, but didn't. So....?

Oh look, another Breaking Bad secret.
That means everyone is going to get their bloody little panties in a wad over Walt.

Oh look, they already have!

Nothing different, then.
