How do y'all deal with random strangers trying to hit on you on public transport?

I usually give them my, "I'm too old for this shit," stare and say, "Really? You are going to be that guy?"

martial arts and a concealed knife. Knife is only used to threaten, but if they persist I break a face. The knife usually does the job, tho.

I walk away. I once had a guy sit reallyyyyyyy close to me while I was waiting at the T. He asked if he minded if he sat there, I said "uh, no". He then put his face into my hair, sniffed me, and asked if I had a boyfriend. I noped the fuck out and walked to the other side of the station, lol.

I ignore as best I can. Give strong "fuck off" vibes and hope they go away.

No one hits on me because I either look too young or they think I will eat them.

On the rare occasion it happens I end up either being too thick-headed to understand they were hitting on me until someone drags them or me away or I bother them by talking endlessly in circles about a topic they don't care about.

...I don't even try to do this on purpose. It just happens.

there is no way to actually keep people from doing this but i like to screech like a pterodactyl and retract my chin into my neck so i look like an upset muppet.

IDK, it only ever happened to me once. A neighbor I see on the bus every morning and evening, who I used to pass the time of day with, put his hand on my leg--that's the closest anyone has ever come. I think I was too flabbergasted to even say anything about it.

I still see him on the bus every morning and evening too. Super awkward.

Bite them. Seriously, even the sleaziest men will think twice if you're a biter.

This is (strangely) one of my biggest fears. And while I have to take one of the arguably scummiest bus routes through my city, I haven't been so much as approached, much less hit on.

I like to think it's because I look seven shades of death, since riding the bus tends to make me sick. Plus I look like jail bait, so it's unlikely adult men will find me attractive.

Yeah the sick kid is really not chic right now. :D

(And for those who are looking at me might be observant enough to realize that I have a knife in my pocket.)

Looking at them with an expression that's a cross between "eww, dried vomit on the sidewalk" and "lol, this little kid giving me second-hand embarrassment."

Generally I pretend they don't even exist. While it doesn't make them go away, it makes it easier to deal with them if I block them out from their mind.

Except if they actually touch me. Once I was asleep on the bus and woke up with the guy sitting beside me inching his hand up my skirt. I slapped him so fucking hard and yelled "PERVERT. Stop TOUCHING me you fucking PERVERT." And after that every time he looked at me I punched him in the thigh hard. After a couple of times he squinched into his corner of the seat and stayed as quiet and cowed as the fucking coward he was, which was extremely satisfying. I don't wear skirts on long bus rides any more, though.

I once told a creepy old dude not to touch me. Loudly. I've never had to punch or kick anyone on a bus or train, and I hope no one gives me the chance.

One time a guy accidentally grabbed my arm instead of ... idk, the pole? We were both standing. He backed away quick. I must have looked ready to murder him. :P

/typed while on the same bus route I was taking at the time. I take this bus a lot, apparently.

I look about ten years younger than I actually am, so I tell them I'm under eighteen. It works pretty well except for the hardcore charmers who then respond with something along the lines of "Even better!"

At that point my awkward smile freezes in place and I just sort of start inching away until I've got a good mile or two between me and them. It takes awhile.

I'll ignore gnore the more subtle/less invasive things like talking at me - keeps happening or gets physical? give them a look then move up to sit/stand as close to driver as possible, or near other girls - if it keeps going, i'll tell them to piss off and get the aggresive posture going. Might put keys in hand - then I will set my phone ready to dial the emergency number and tell them as such - never had to go further than that, but I'll phone the police if I have to.

Steel yourself in some way. I think about other people there getting bothered by the creep, especially old people or children. I get a lot of force from feeling like I need to protect someone.
Don't take any bait: don't try to answer sleazy questions, or questions AT ALL. If you do, they register only that you try to accommodate them, and get more steam from it. Instead, tell them in a direct way what you want, like: "You are going to go back to (wherever) and sit down and stop annoying people now.", "You need to go off on this station because you are not welcome in this cart." etc. Say it in a stern voice, but do not yell or get angry. Say it like you are their mother and you are telling them to stand in a corner for the next five minutes.
This technique can penetrate pretty drunk and deprived minds. It might take some repetitions if creep is extra dense, but using the "teacher's voice" will usually trigger some deep rooted instinct and also dampens misfiring sex drive. Done right, you can see them shrink.
