ugh. it never changes, does it? I remember being pissed about this ten years ago when I was first exposed to fangirl culture at my first anime con. they called every instance of sex, including loving/consensual, "rape." instead of saying "x/y are having sex," they would say "x is ttly raping y how cute!"

still hate it. I will join you in your rage, anon.

Not sure that's entirely the same as what the OP is talking about. Calling consensual sex between two fictional characters "rape" in a cutesy sort of way, like those fangirls, is stupid but totally different to people *actually* considering real life consensual sex to be rape.

Because that's totally a staple of "fangirl culture", right?
I've had RL experiences in which people referred to rough sex as "rape" and it was mostly men.
Best quotes include: "My girlfriend is just lying there. I wish she would just rape me sometimes" and: "Don't talk so bad about rape all the time. Some people love getting raped and you should respect them".
