The problem with this is that, what if both parties are that drunk? Is it a two-way rape? Or did no one get raped?

It starts to be the question, is rape still rape without the intention to rape? Supposing A honest to god thought B was fully into it, but B was just too overwhelmed to say no (which happens a lot), and so A thought it was a fun consensual experience but B felt violated. Is that really rape? Perhaps we could call it rape, but I wouldn't call A a rapist.

I remember being pissed about this ten years ago when I was first exposed to fangirl culture at my first anime con. they called every instance of sex, including loving/consensual, "rape." instead of saying "x/y are having sex," they would say "x is ttly raping y how cute!"

Not sure that's entirely the same as what the OP is talking about. Calling consensual sex between two fictional characters "rape" in a cutesy sort of way, like those fangirls, is stupid but totally different to people *actually* considering real life consensual sex to be rape.

I've had RL experiences in which people referred to rough sex as "rape" and it was mostly men.
Best quotes include: "My girlfriend is just lying there. I wish she would just rape me sometimes" and: "Don't talk so bad about rape all the time. Some people love getting raped and you should respect them".

What exactly are you talking about that you consider consensual that others consider rape? I mean, are we talking crazy extremists that all sex involving a penis is rape? Or are we talking drunk/high/incapacitated/date rape type of thing? So like do the SJWs you've run into just not like jokes about sex at all?

I hate the thing that says that drunk people are apparently not allowed to have sex. I mean, yeah, if one party is so drunk they're barely conscious, that's one thing, but... two semi-responsibly drunk people, enough to decide to be shy enough to turn 'wanting to get laid' into 'actually going home with someone you met earlier that night' or 'turning an acquaintance/crush into a fuckbuddy or potential partner' is pretty much... normal sex. At least, normal for a large portion of young people.

If you're my friend and you think the other person is creepy, or you think that I have misjudged my level of consciousness, please let me know. Otherwise... mind your own business.

I would be a little more cautious, and say that a sober person who intentionally tries to get with a drunk person (or tries to get someone drunk) even if the drunk person is only semi-drunk, not almost unconscious, that's pretty horrible too.

But for the rest of your comment, yup. I mean, people? If I decide that I want to drink a couple beers to thaw out my tongue-tying self-consciousness before I go try to score with that guy I've wanted to bang for weeks, you do not get to fucking tell me I just got raped.

I think a lot of this stuff is coming from people who have very little experience of alcohol (and tend to be a little scared of it or judgey about it) and don't realize just how vast a spectrum there is between "pleasantly buzzed" and "too drunk to walk/talk/know where they are/consent." Or that some people drink to lower their inhibition on purpose because they want their inhibitions lowered, like you said, specifically so they can drown out their inner shyness and actually maybe get laid. Is it a healthy way of dealing with things? Not really. Is it rape though? NOPE.

For an experienced drinker, two or three beers or glasses of wine is not going to make you too sloshed to consent. (You shouldn't drive, true - but drunk sex is unlikely to kill anyone instantly; there's a scale of risk here.)

I have yet to encounter many people who claim drunks aren't allowed to have sex, especially in fandom where the "the only way to get A and B into bed is to bust out the booze" trope is omnipresent. I have, however, encountered plenty of people who claim that people shouldn't drink if they don't want to regret their outbreak of sluttiness the next day and then "cry rape". As if we should all shrug and go "oh well" if rape is committed as a result of drinking on the part of anyone involved. I think the latter is a much bigger problem, but that's my opinion.

I think it's pretty confusing. There's clearly a level at which one is without the power to consent- they're physically incapable of thinking cogently -but there's a huge range of sobriety to blackout drunkenness, wherein one is largely capable of semi-clear thinking. I know I've turned guys down when I'm buzzed, so I was totally capable of consenting at those times. It's necessary to draw a line in the sand, though.
