Nope

It would not have faded away. It still would have been a really, really popular pop song. Because it's a really good pop song, it was one of the songs of the summer. It might have not been as present in fandom internet spaces, but it wasn't massive because of the controversy (although that may have helped in a PR sense), it was massive because of the song and the groove.

But it would have faded away. I mean...Bad Romance was huge and how many times do you hear it on the radio today?

well

I mean

Yeah, it would have faded away like all pop songs do, but my point is that it's not the argument about whether or not it's rapey that is determining its popularity

Bad Romance is four years old, it's ancient.

I actually hear it a lot more than I would expect. And I only listen to pop stations 25% of the time.

Actually, some pop stations still play Bad Romance on a semi-regular basis despite it being 4 years old. So not really the best example to use.

Once a week at a minimum, and I spend maybe three hours per week listening to the radio.

Bad Romance was around forever.

It's two albums later.

Eh, personally I think it's terrible. It sounds like What's New Pussycat- generic, bland, terrible pop music.
