Huh. I never really saw them as that wrapped up in each other, but I suppose looking back I can understand that interpretation, even if I disagree with it.

One example I can think of is in one of the ova, where Michiru is willing to take the chance of destroying of the world in order to save Haruka because 'a world without Haruka isn't worth living in' (not exact quote). However I really liked that ><;;;

That was in the series, during the Deathbusters arc.

It's in one of the ova's too. Kind of a reoccurring theme for them, actually...

That was the Super S TV special, and my interpretation of that was that Michiru was bluffing, as a way of psyching out the dummy. They killed themselves twice to save the world (once when they removed their own heart crystals cause they realized they had the talismans and when they gave their starseeds over to Galaxia to try and destroy her), they are utterly devoted to Princess Serenity and keeping the Earth safe from outside threats that I couldn't see them really willing to sacrifice the Earth for eachother's sake (As Sailor Moon does in the live action series)... They both have interests that are outside of each other, and both socialize without each other.

Now that I revist the series as an adult I do wonder if Haruka would be happier with a poly, or open relationship (especially one that involved Usagi).

Anyway as for myself while I like the Rei/Usagi and Minako/Rei ships fine I kinda like Usagi/Minako sometimes since they are so much alike, they're almost like twin sisters (both being based on Naoko)... There's a lot less subtext between the two but they do have some great moments.
