Can you actually name specific moments in the anime or manga that shows how their love is selfish? All I can think of is the SuperS special (already been mentioned) where Michiru says that "without Haruka the world isn't worth saving". Either than that I'm drawing at a blank.

Um. I've never seen this show, but I would think your one example would be enough to prove their relationship is selfish?

They start out much more insular, not trusting anyone, but then they grow after accepting Usagi as their princess and friend. Character development is a wonderful thing, it means you do need more than one instance to prove something for sure.

Well, it's just Michiru saying it so it's more a reflection of her character than anything and in the context that it happened it's likely that she's just pulling the leg of the guy she's saying it to. The secret is baffling to me because any other time on the show Uranus and Neptune are sacrificing themselves for some 'greater cause'. Maybe it's selfish because they're doing it together? I honestly feel like I'm missing something.

Except in the same stroke, they were willing to sacrifice themselves for the world. Michiru and Haruka both were willing to die to release their talismans.

And then in the manga? They were afraid of anyone else getting pulled in their burden of carrying items that could summon the end of the fucking world.
