(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)Alienation of a lesbian couple in the world can create that kind of environment where they withdraw from straight people- especially a gaggle of girls that think you're a man (Haruka) the first time they meet you and sometimes act a bit strange around you.
Idk they seemed more carefully represented in the manga... But I think you're comparing apples to oranges here. There's a lot of extenuating circumstances for a lesbian couple- and there was subtle & not so subtle homophobia directed towards them on the show. The motorcycle episode where a guy's angry about Haruka beating him because she's a woman comes to mind- and there were a few instances where Michiru purposefully concealed their relationship when Usagi was about to naively out them.
Idk I'll ship them to the grave tho.
