Many of the games I know the most about (Silent Hill for instance), I have only watched through Let's Plays. And one of the guys I watch only because I really like his voice. I'll put his Let's Plays on while I am doing other stuff because I enjoy it so much.

While do I think playing the game is an important part of enjoying it, I don't think you HAVE to play them in order to find them interesting and be a fan of them. Hell, LPs are really starting to become a source of genuine entertainment, so who cares if you can't or won't play the games yourself?

And hell, people are fans of SPORTS commentators, so why not LPers?

Pretty much this.

If you can't afford the game (or the console/handheld/etc to play it on), aren't good at games, simply don't enjoy playing them yourself, or just know you'll never get around to it otherwise but still want to see what the game is all about, then LP's are great.

I love playing games but there are certain titles I know I'll never, ever play, so the only way I'm going to experience them is through LP's. And that's totally fine.

Hell my boyfriend, who is a much bigger gamer than me, has really gotten into watching Monster Hunter LP's recently(it's partly that he doesn't have the game system to play it on and he really enjoys the videos, there's one of the LP's gamers that I like listening to as well)

I agree. While I enjoy watching Let's Plays, I do get annoyed at people who say a certain game is bad or boring if they have only experienced it from a Let's Play.

Man, I miss his old Let's Plays, they were so much fun. I love him, I really do, but he never finishes the games that actually have stories these days. It's extremely frustrating to watch him pick up a game then forget about it immediately and start something else. (And the horrible, repetitive shit he plays regularly... ugh, how does the man not puke at the sight of Happy Wheels or Terraria already?)
