Pets

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Two of my pets died in the span of one week. This makes me very sad. It's been hard, but I'm coping.

To cheer me up, tell me about all of your wonderful pets!

That's tough. I hope you feel better. Today I spilled a glass of milk and my doberman helped me clean it off the floor.

I'm sorry to hear it. :( I'm always pretty heartbroken when a pet dies.

But! My kitty plays fetch. Sometimes he wakes me up in the middle of the night with a toy so he can play.

I have two lovely kitties.

One I raised since he was on milk [we'd found him in the post office parking lot, about to be backed over by a truck - and thankfully the truck driver was really nice about letting us look for the source of mewing before backing out.] He's a bit chubby, despite being the most active cat in the house, and too smart for his [or maybe our] own good. He's basically figured out how VCRs, Printers and a couple of other things work, and he's amazingly nosy about cabinets and litter boxed. [I don't get the litter box thing either.]

My other kitty is this big white fluffy monster, whose head is almost asbig as my [admittely, child-sized] hand. He's not very smart, but he's one of the sweetest things when it comes to people. Seriously, he's the only cat I've ever met that with *lick* you if you start trying to annoy him. I ended up with him after his original owner had to give him away because they were afraid he'd end up knocking her feeding tube down her throat.

Aw, I'm so sorry!
*hugs*

Um...Annalee is a jealous, jealous dog. Oliver the cat comes in to my desk to get some attention, and here comes Annalee, pushing in and leaning on me and making sure *she* gets the pets. She's almost seventy pounds - she's *heavy*. She also has to have a 'good night' dog-bone snack before bed or she gets very pouty.

Oliver likes to chew on plastic bags and also chewed a strip up the edge of my daughter's shower curtain. I have no clue what the attraction is.

Jack-cat looooves Annalee and will follow her around and rub all over her and try to stick his nose in her ear and basically just want to be besties. Mostly Annalee is okay with that. Jack also likes to rearrange the recyclables. Forcefully.

You have my condoleances.

I have two polydactyl cats ( litter siblings) who usually are draped on top of me when I wake up. One of them used to play fetch, but no more as her favorite toy is lost. The other insists on joining me in the bathroom. They have fannish names: Vasquez and Rousseau.

My dog is a ninja. Sometimes she likes to pretend to go to her own bed in the kitchen, but she actually sneaks to the first floor to either sleep in the corridor or in the bedroom. In general she's extremely quiet when she wants to.

She's also extremely jealous and especially hates it when I pet cats.

*hugs* :(

I have a cat, her name is Penelope, like the lass from Ulysses. She likes drinking my tea from my mug?? Even when it's sweetened with honey? IDEK. She is also incredibly friendly, loves cuddling and can actually hug people (that is, if you hold her in your arms, she puts one of her forelegs on one of your shoulders and the other one on the other shoulder and buries her head in your neck).

Whenever I sit on the floor to play video games my dog comes over and falls asleep with his head in my lap. Which makes it harder, but I try not to wake him up.

I'm so sorry to hear that. We have an adorable Maltese/Llasa Apso mix named Casper. He loves to play fetch/keepaway with his ball and is a big fan of cuddling.

I'm so sorry, Anon.

I have three doggies, two of which are sleeping next to me as I type (as it's chilly, today, and the laptop fan blows hot air over them and helps keep them warm). One of those two is a rescue, who was abused before I found him, and he still is scared of/reacts badly to strange men. The other I chose out of a litter of puppies, and she's smart, and obnoxious. The third dog is incredibly old, but got over a couple months' bout of illness to literally bounce back, and she keeps dancing over to remind me she hasn't had her evening meal yet....

Whenever I take him to the vet, my dog tries to do the Scooby Doo thing where he tries to jump into my arms. My cat loves the vet. She comes out of her crate purring whenever she sees him.

I'm so sorry anon. :( I can't imagine how painful that would be.

This probably isn't all that unusual, but my bb (dog) likes to have his lower back scratched and if you decide to ignore him, he'll just rub up against your foot, or leg, or elbow, or whatever, trying to get some relief. It's hilarious.

Aww I'm sorry anon. :(

I have three cats. Two who are twelve, one is black and white(and very fluffy) and the other has dark orange tabby markings(short-haired), they're both moggys. Our third cat is about a year and five-ish months old and he's a pure silver tabby(with HUGE orange eyes).

The two older cats love snuggles or sitting next to you and the youngest is still very much a frisky kitten who loves to play, though he too enjoys snuggles when he's tuckered out.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

I two cats in my house, Kotori, and Cadbury. There are also barn cats out here who are almost all nice and affectionate, with the exception of a few feral cats, and Doofus Maximus III. You know people who talk about coming home from work and their dogs are like exploding with joy just to see them? That's Doofus every time he sees me outside. He's more interested in cuddles than food at times. I can give him medicine if he needs it too, I discovered this after I had to get antibiotics for him when he lost a testicle. I've never had a cat I could give medicine to without problems, even kittens are a pain in the ass, so having an adult tom barn cat be like "OK! Then you can scratch my ears!" was really shocking.

I'm so sorry, anon.

I have a dachshund mix we adopted from the animal shelter. He's got the sweetest little face but he's a little bit chubby, especially after living with my parents for the past year and a half. When I go home, though, he likes to sleep on top of me, especially if I'm lying on my stomach; he'll just plop down on my back and snooze there. He's got big paws too, and he's always up for a nap, especially when I'm feeling tired and/or crampy. My mom says he goes an whines at my room when I leave again.

We have two cats. The first one we've had since I was in elementary school- he's now a big fat orange tabby that always wants to drink from the sink and cuddle.
The second one we got last December is a little siamese-mix. He has a snaggletooth so we sometimes call him that. He always wants to be up and around and have attention and if he doesn't he will not stop meowing.

and my mom has her dog which I wish wasn't here.

:< I'm sorry.

I have two (sort of three) cats.

One, Leela, is an almost three white-tabby mix and I've had her since she was about six weeks old. She's smart and bitchy and would probably be capable of running a small country if she could talk. She's opened my fridge, and I had to put doors on my bookshelves because she would pull all the books off them at 5am when she wanted me to get up and feed her.

Two, Jake, is an almost two grey tabby, and I just adopted him in April from the humaine society. He is the most mellow and stonerist cat I've ever seen. He will sit there and watch you vacuum.

They both like to sleep on my boobs while I'm in bed on my laptop. Not together, that would probably lead to a world war. XD

I do have a third cat, K.I.T.T., but when I moved out of my parents' house I left her with them because I didn't want to separate her from her brother. She's pretty inquisitive and both her and her brother are huge. Like, not fat, but both Jake and Leela are pretty petite and short-haired and K.I.T.T. and Oreo are long furred and just long/big in general.

HANDBAG

My cat Sweet Pea, otherwise known as Handbag, is the most ridiculously adorable pile of clumsy, hot, fat purring blubber and white fur. He started out as a feral kitten in my haymow; I tamed him (shhh I'm an animal whisperer okay), and from that point he started being the most insanely sappy and affectionate cat.

He's the type of cat that will clamber into bed with you, slip under the covers, and then nestle in the hollow of your stomach and purr. And let you wrap your arms around him and squish him like a stuffed animal.

Another animal who I really shouldn't classify as a pet, but I do anyway because she is just so goddamn adorable and sweet, is a calf on my parents' farm called Ripley.

She's short, insanely fat, and loves attention. When she's laying down in her stall, I'll often come over and snuggle against her, and give her neck a hug. She'll often lift her head, and sandwich me against her side to give me a hug back. 8> I love that damn animal.

Gah. I am so sorry anon. :(((

I have one dog. She's less than 1.5 years old and still way too full of energy, but she doesn't have the greatest stamina, haha. She's (from what I'm told) part stafford part bull terrier? with the color of a golden retriever. and she's super whiny. Well, she sounds that way even when she's happy, haha. Her actual name is Jules but sometimes we call her jujube and like a million other names.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have a 13 year old cat, Chrestomanci. He is very very fluffy and beautiful with an extra long plumy tail, but he is painfully stupid. If it is possible to have an airheaded cat, I do. He's getting old and losing weight so I'm starting to resign myself to the fact he won't live forever (he's my first pet ever so I've never done the humans-outlive-animals dance before). But for now he is being his wonderful fluffy dumb self! His favorite food/toy is ribbon. He's rather lazy and ignores 85% of toys (must be ribbon, premium catnip, or dispense treats). Nothing will make him happier than chasing a helium balloon. We get a balloon at the 99¢ store every few months, and they are always always 100x worth the money. <3

My puppy's hip is healing nicely after he broke it. (We think he was feeling left out after two people in my family broke theirs, or it was an elaborate ploy to get me and my sib to come home...)

Also, my roommate's gerbils aren't biting me anymore when I try to bond with them. Woohoo!

Re: Pets

My cat, William, came from the farmers' market: I went up there to get tomatoes, and there was this man with an all-black kitten lying in the bottom of a chicken cage with its paws over its nose. And I thought "It's been a long time since I petted a cat, it can't hurt if I just ask to hold it..." And before I knew it, I was going home a cat mommy.

He's nine years old now, and possibly because he was born in a barn and comes of good barn cat stock, he's a wicked good mouser. IDK how the mice get into my house, because every fall I look for possible places they might be getting in and stop them up, but every fall, there are mice. So I'm grateful for the hunting prowess of a cat who greets me in the morning with a dead mouse laid out in the bathroom, and sometimes another one when I get home at the end of the day. He's so proud of them too.

I'm sorry anon. :(

My sister has the sweetest little Albino African Clawed frog -- his name is Beelzebub Jean-Clawed Van Damned. (Bub for short!) He's slightly pink-ish white with red eyes. He likes to play in the little waterfall under his tank filter, and he likes to relax by floating with his little nose just above water level and hang downwards so it looks like he's sort of standing on his hind legs. When you put food cubes in the water and they break up, raining food on him, he Kermit-flails around while he's eating. :)

Sorry to hear that, I lost my Daddy cornsnake Kelloggs and my hogg island boa within two weeks of each other about two months back

We have two chickens, 12 snakes, an iguana, a leopard gecko, a turtle, two guinea pigs and a cat

The chickens will come into the house if you leave the back door open, our cat chased a young cat out of the garden and my snake's know when it's feeding day, they wait by the door of their tank.
