Re: Pets

My cat, William, came from the farmers' market: I went up there to get tomatoes, and there was this man with an all-black kitten lying in the bottom of a chicken cage with its paws over its nose. And I thought "It's been a long time since I petted a cat, it can't hurt if I just ask to hold it..." And before I knew it, I was going home a cat mommy.

He's nine years old now, and possibly because he was born in a barn and comes of good barn cat stock, he's a wicked good mouser. IDK how the mice get into my house, because every fall I look for possible places they might be getting in and stop them up, but every fall, there are mice. So I'm grateful for the hunting prowess of a cat who greets me in the morning with a dead mouse laid out in the bathroom, and sometimes another one when I get home at the end of the day. He's so proud of them too.
