It took you more than the first episode to realise that she's flat as fuck? Lucky you, I guess.

I disagree. During Trost she was an interesting character. Eren was the most important thing to her, but that's not all she was. Then after that she became a cold blooded killing machine obsessed with Eren. Her whole characterization nowadays is "muh Eren".

I never liked her that much after Trost, but after she tried to kill Ymir two chapter ago and admitted that she would kill all her comrades for Eren without any regrets, I can't stand her anymore.

I agree with this. I actually used to really like her, especially after when she resolved to live even without Eren after he got eaten, but now... I don't know.
I get that he is the only family they have left, but in a world like that I think a person with her skill level, who would refuse to kill Eren if his Titan turned crazy and turned against humanity, killing her friends and thousand others, I just can't like her (I don't hate her, though. I have hope she'll get better).

Apropos Ymir, I don't like her selfishness when it comes to Christa either. :/

But I guess they both own their "flaws" there?

At least they both admit

You hate Mikasa because she tried to kill Ymir who turned out to be a goddamn titan and helped kidnapped her only family? lmao ok

I see this a lot and man does it piss me off. Like, she just found out that 4 of her comrades turn out to be titans that caused her second mother to die. OF COURSE she doesn't trust anybody else. It doesn't matter if they had their reasons, they're still fucking titans that she's seen kill people. I don't even like Mikasa that much but come on.

Mikasa isn't the only victim, you know, yet I didn't see Jean, Connie or Armin reacting like she did. They were trying to understand why their friends had become their enemies and their reasons for attacking humanity. Mikasa, on the other hand, was I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU TRAITORS.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's been shown that Mikasa came to realize that the world is a cruel place when she was like what, 9? So yeah, she's a pretty cold person. And the last time Eren and Armin try to talk to Annie about what's going on, it didn't end well at all.

As for the others, Mikasa knows that she can take down a titan with her own strength but Armin knows he can't. That's why Armin did some psychological damage instead, telling Berthold that they're torturing Annie right now. As for Jean and Connie well, they're kinda soft idiots that were actually close to these guys.

Also Mikasa's drive to kill them right now is about the same as Eren's so

First of all Mikasa is the only one with the ability to even kill fast. Armin, Jean, and Connie are not so confident in their ability that they could even make threats. Mikasa is supposed to be one of the strongest available soldiers so she has a higher responsibility to deal with threats.

As painful as it is to believe, both Reiner and Bertholdt were responsible for mass murder including the death of Mikasa's mother. They might have their reasons but they've proven that they are one of the most dangerous threats against humanity and you think it's unreasonable to want to eliminate that threat before something happens again?

Despite being a huge threat Mikasa wasn't like I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU TRAITORS. She couldn't even kill Reiner and Bertholdt when she had the perfect opportunity. And, didn't Ymir attack her first? When Christa said not to kill Ymir, Mikasa said that it depends on Ymir. It's not like she was just gonna cut her down ruthlessly but as long as she is behaving like an enemy then what's wrong with that.

Why doesn't anyone ever criticize Ymir who seems not to care about anyone but herself and Christa? Why doesn't anybody give Eren shit for saying he wanted to torture Reiner and Bertholdt in order to make their deaths as painful as possible? Not saying Mikasa isn't being ruthless, but I don't think it's unique to her and given the circumstances it's kinda understandable.

Why doesn't anyone ever criticize Ymir who seems not to care about anyone but herself and Christa?

Because the story doesn't pretend that isn't the point of her or glorify it. She owns the fact that she's selfish and fucked up.

As for Eren, he gets shit in the fandom for a lot of things, including not being grateful enough to Mikasa for everything she's done for him.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No, she started out great and then got worst.

She punched Eren for insulting Armin. Then when Eren supposedly died she still had the resolve to live and told Armin she wasn't gonna leave him behind and showed regret that she carelessly ran into battle with comrades following after her.

Now it's just a nasty obsession that I'm hoping will get dealt with via some character development.
