I want to read this book. Mainly because Eleanor & Park made me laugh so much with its cheesy lines, cringe-worthy characters (Eleanor especially), mild racism? (not that racism makes me laugh, but the author just didn't know how to handle the differences in culture) and stupid plot. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it for all the wrong reasons. So I want to read Fangirl because I'm sure it will be just as bad and it will make me laugh. (Or it might actually turn out to be a good book, who knows.)

With the premise of this book though, it feels to me as if the author went, "Umm, I wonder what's popular enough these days to make a plot for a book that will sell?" and went on Tumblr for 5 minutes and came back with the answer "fandom".

EDIT: I have started this book and, just as I predicted, it's HILARIOUS. My goodness, it makes me laugh so hard. It's so bad and the author just can't write. Seems like I'm going to "enjoy it" even more than Eleanor & Park.

Oh and, by the way, fandom is not as bad or as devilish as people/this author depicts it to be. Sure, there's some bad stuff sometimes (ship wars, etc.), but you just have to learn not to care about that stuff and to stay on the good side of fandom, which is where I've always stayed all these years. You give up on fandom if you want, OP, but don't think you're better than the people who stay in fandom because of it.
