(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)Unless your previous attachment to fandom was some bizarre overly close thing which was interfering with everything else in your life? In which case, good for you making a change?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)And opposite for me, OP. It actually made me want to get into more fandoms and it inspired me to write more fanfiction.
I also want to read Harry Potter now. And then ship Harry/Draco. (I kept thinking this every time I read about Baz & Simon.)

With the premise of this book though, it feels to me as if the author went, "Umm, I wonder what's popular enough these days to make a plot for a book that will sell?" and went on Tumblr for 5 minutes and came back with the answer "fandom".
EDIT: I have started this book and, just as I predicted, it's HILARIOUS. My goodness, it makes me laugh so hard. It's so bad and the author just can't write. Seems like I'm going to "enjoy it" even more than Eleanor & Park.
Oh and, by the way, fandom is not as bad or as devilish as people/this author depicts it to be. Sure, there's some bad stuff sometimes (ship wars, etc.), but you just have to learn not to care about that stuff and to stay on the good side of fandom, which is where I've always stayed all these years. You give up on fandom if you want, OP, but don't think you're better than the people who stay in fandom because of it.
