People do that? But aren't they like super close friends? What is the difference between the two?

Mostly how they do their comedy [from what I've seen anyways.] Colbert satirizes Republicans, and Stewart just makes fun of stupid [mostly political] stuff in general.

I feel like Colbert satirizes media pundits and Fox News personalities more than Republicans as such

AYRT

Maybe - it's hard to tell though, since everyone seems to lump them all together.

Yeah, it's weird. I have a preference for Colbert over Stewart, but not like I have a hate-on. I just prefer Colbert's satirical style a little more, and the fact that when he breaks character, he's just so fucking charming.

I prefer Stewart over Colbert, immensely, but I don't understand anyone who has a hate-on for either of them.

John Oliver, on the other hand...

Same here. I love the "mean-ness" of pointing out outrageous behavior by imitating it. But (and I am speaking only for myself here) if Jon Stewart didn't exist, I feel like that'd take away from Stephen Colbert's effectiveness. Like Stephen points out the idiocy by mocking it, and then there's Jon who is pointing it out in a more grounded, straightforward way.

They're like baking soda and vinegar. Great on their own, and when they get together, holy crap is it powerful.

And you can wash your hair with them. ♥

Which I do, rather frequently, too. It seriosly can't be beat!

Jon does more general humor and points out the idiocy flat out while Stephen points out the idiocy with a character.

I agree with your confusion- those two are super good friends firstly. Second, I've never seen anyone bash Jon while praising Colbert. Either they love them both or like one but find the other more entertaining, but even then, it's always with respect for the other and the understanding that they're both... I don't know how to describe it. It's like... it wouldn't be as much fun if only one of them existed. Maybe that's just me?
