I find being bad at simple math way worse than not being able to read personally, but Algebra I isn't what I'd consider "simple math." I mean, it's not Calculus or Differential Equations or anything, but it's also not necessary really. As long as you can use basic math skills like addition and calculating tips, I think you're fine--knowing how to complete the square and solve simultaneous equations are really bonuses.

...By which I mean, "don't feel bad, Algebra is most useful in academia anyway."

You think not being able to multiply with decimal places is worse than not knowing how to read? Forget adding up prices and calculating tips, what about reading the menu?

Oh, I mean I can barely do beginning Algebra, and even stuff like long division and calculating tips is difficult for me. I probably have math dyslexia.
